There’s something about Zelenskyy: Ben Stiller meets Ukraine’s leader

It’s not just politicians lining up to meet Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Hollywood stars are getting in on the act.

The actor Ben Stiller was in Kyiv Monday in his role as a U.N. goodwill ambassador, and went to meet the Ukrainian president.

The “Zoolander” and “Meet The Parents” star told Zelenskyy: “It’s a great honor for me. You are my hero. You quit a great acting career for this.” Zelenskyy was a famous face in Ukraine before he took office, starring in “Servant of the People,” a sitcom about an ordinary man who became an unlikely president.

Stiller isn’t the first celebrity to meet Zelenskyy since Russia invaded. Ukraine-born actress Mila Kunis and her husband, Ashton Kutcher, had a Zoom call with the president in March. In May, U2’s Bono and the Edge performed a concert in a subway station in Kyiv.
